Only two hours from Romsey, this area offers climbing in a wide range of grades. There are single- and multi-pitch routes and some real gems in idyllic locations high above the river Wye.

I love the Wye Valley! Come on folks, this is a really great place to climb. The advent of photo-topos in modern guide book has sadly removed the need to spend months of your life learning the intricate 3D layout of Wintour’s Leap but it does mean that you have more time for climbing.
I’d like to come on this one.
Patrick, if planning on just climbing in the lower Wye Valley, then https://sheephouse.org.uk/ is a very convenient (and good) campsite about 10 mins from Wintours/Shorn Cliff etc. Used it a few times now.
Thanks Matt, it looks like a good camp site, although I trust that their facilities are not quite as basic as their web site! I am pleased to note that there is no upper limit stated for the climbing frame.
Please book me onto this one.?
Please book me onto this one too.

Me too
Charlotte would like to come on this meet. Posting on her behalf
I would like to go too please.
We’ll go. is this a Thursday as well?
I was only planning to go up on the Friday but I think we could extend it to the Thursday if required.
Hi folks,
Hearing that the camp site that we usually use near the Roaches is booked for the weekend that we are planning to be there I thought I would have a mini-panic about the Wye Valley trip. I have provisionally booked the Elmsdale Camping site near Symonds Yat where we have stayed before. I have booked the site for 12 people from Friday until Sunday (i.e. 2 nights each). This includes the 8 people who are identified ‘up front’ plus Charlotte, Roland, Rachel and a contingency place (I tried adding you to the list but there seems to be a problem with saving the change – ‘Your subscription with license key 78958AC8-11FFBC57-5A5D9D5F-3600A75F is expired. Please go to your Colibri account and renew the license’.)
The cost is £11 per night per person. This is not as cheap as it used to be but I guess like all similar sites the last two years have been pretty tough going. I need to pay a 50% deposit to secure the booking so can everyone please confirm that they are still planning to attend.
Hi Patrick,
I’ll come but just for a day trip on Saturday. Cheers
Thanks Jim.
Patrick just to confirm I am coming, will head down Fri to climb Sat and Sun. Thanks.
Thanks Emma.
We’ll come. You going down on Thursday of Friday?
I was planning to go from Friday to Sunday, this is partly because there is the Dartmoor trip the next weekend.
Hi Everyone,
Just to confirm I am still going. I will be heading up on Friday and climbing Sat/Sun. I will also just confirm with Elmsdale campsite that I can book in my van which I will be sleeping in, just in case they charge differently for this. Looking forward to it. Lets hope the weather is good!!!
Thanks Clive.
Even though I am not going on this trip, I have updated the “who’s going” list for Patrick as requested by him, so everyone is now listed. Patrick was clearly not to be trusted with access to his own meet, even though he is a Committee member (without a real role!). We have to be so careful these days!!
Hi Patrick, I’m hoping to come up on Saturday for a day trip if that’s ok.
Thanks,
Ivan
Hi Patrick,
To confirm, Sarah & I are heading up Friday morning, and staying until the Sunday, so 2 nights at the campsite.
Thanks,
Tony.
Thanks Tony.
I still like to come Friday afternoon till Sunday.
Have you booked everyone onto the campsite?
Thanks Charlotte. I have a provisional booking at the camp site but will now put down a deposit since most people have confirmed attendance.
I have paid the deposit for the camp site for all the people who have confirmed that they are coming on the trip. The three who have not confirmed (you know who you are!) needn’t panic as Karen, the site owner, said that they could be added later if necessary.
Here is the email Karen sent me which provides information on the site:

ELMSDALE CAMPING
I’m still planning to come, for as long as anyone else is going and/or when I can blag lifts there/back. Hopefully/probably Friday to Sunday!
