BOULDERING

RoCs - bouldering Oops!

Get outside and boulder! Many RoCs members are keen boulderers, often getting out during the winter months as well as in the summer. Portland is a frequent destination and Font sometimes features too.

Trad

RoCs - Pete's trad gear

RoCs get out trad climbing regularly, whether single or multipitch, both on day trips and to locations further afield, such as the Peak District, Wales and the Lakes.

Sport

Romsey Climbers - Coral East, El Chorro, multipitch sport climbing

We have frequent sport climbing trips both in the UK and abroad, e.g. in Spain and Greece.

Place a post on the RoCs Facebook page to find a climbing partner/s or to suggest a new crag to climb.
We organise novice meets where trad climbing is introduced, keep an eye out for these dates.

Snowdonia – Capel Curig
Sep 12 – Sep 20 all-day
Organiser: John H We’re staying at The Barn climbing hut at Capel Curig, which belongs to North London Mountaineering Club. It sleeps 30 in three bunkrooms and we’ve got the whole hut to ourselves so there will be plenty of space. The barn is set in a beautifully secluded location with wonderful mountain views and only five minutes’ walk from the Tyn Y Coed Pub and A5 lay-by (GR: SH 737572, postcode: LL24 0DT). It’s centrally situated, very handy for climbing in Ogwen and has mountain walks from the door.     Who fancies an autumn week in Spain? The rock’s warm, the beer’s cold and the pool has had eight months to warm up. If you fancy a week sport climbing, via ferratas and hiking in a T shirt in October, this is the trip for you! El Chorro has dozens of crags with thousands of routes and RoCs has a copy of the Rockfax guidebook. We’ll explore several areas, probably including some long (30m+) and multi-pitch routes. For more inspiration see https://mojagear.com/sport/2017/06/01/climbing-destination-guide-el-chorro-spain/. Eleven of us went in 2025 and had a brilliant time! The house I’ve booked for the ten of us who’ve already signed up is full, but there’s plenty of good accommodation nearby. Most of us are flying Ryanair from Bournemouth.
