Hi to all RoCs members. I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope Santa brings you all you need to enjoy climbing in 2020. Thank you all for much fun and some rather scary moments on the Rock and in the Pub on the meets I was able to attend. I hope to enjoy climbing with you in 2020, before old age and stupidity really sets in for good.
A special thanks goes to all the Committee Members in 2019 who have helped me keep RoCs going so well, and I am sure next year will be just as successful. Thanks especially to Stu and Jon, as they are stepping down from the committee after many years helping to run the club. Also more thanks to Hannah and Matt for stepping in to take over these roles, and Sarah for starting as our new Social Officer, a much needed role. Please note that the gear officer role run by James has now been taken on by Mark, our Website & IT Officer, so any club gear or club guide books you require for a meet, please contact Mark.
Finally, for all those hardy climbers who wish to start the year early, Patrick and I will be going North as usual to Snowdonia on the weekend of the 1st & 2nd February, camping at Capel Curig (if it is open) next to the Bryn Tyrch Pub. There are options to use the adjoining warm dry hostel if you book a space with them, or in the Pub, or for the really hardy, one of the bunk rooms on the campsite (no heating or water). There should be a Meets page appearing soon on the website. We will probably go up Thursday morning and return Sunday pm. We hope to have cold dry weather with some snow! If not, expect dry or wet weather for damp climbing or wet mountaineering. If the weather looks to be really foul at the last minute we will not go. Watch the meets page.
