There are some lower-grade routes to learn or refresh techniques and plenty of harder routes if you want to push yourself. If the forecast isn’t great for Sunday we could postpone until Monday…

Only two hours from Romsey, this area offers trad and sport climbing over a wide range of grades. There are single- and multi-pitch routes and some real gems in idyllic locations high above the river Wye. Campsite or accommodation to be decided…

Please feel welcome to join for a few days if the full week isn’t suitable for you. Some pre-booked camping in the plantation is also available, at the same rate as bunk beds. The 6 spots are available on a 1st come 1st served basis but currently there are an additional 10 bunks available, so it’s possible for us to increase the booking, if necessary. We’ll add your name to the bunkhouse booking when you sign up here. The bunkhouse is only half a mile from Clapham where there are AirBnBs and rooms in the New Inn pub/restaurant. There are lots of campsites (some with pods) in the area too so lots of accommodation options.

We will be excellently placed to access both grit and limestone, trad, sport and bouldering areas! Malham Cove is not too far away, nor is Twistleton Scar (short walk in with over 300 routes including the Chris Bonington 1st ascent of Evening Star, 3 star Severe). We will also only be about 45 minutes from Kendal Wall, should the weather not play ball.
Close to the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, Ingleton Waterfall walk and lots of open-water swimming possibilities too!

This is a weekend meet with campsite to be decided but can easily be done as a day trip (Portland is 1hr 30mins from Romsey).

The aim will be to head to the quieter areas of Portland (such as The Lost Valley on the east side) with options to head elsewhere should people wish.

There are a good number of easier grade 3, 4 and 5 slabs available, with plenty of top roping options. Or harder grades can be targeted, depending on what people wish to do.

Bouldering is also an option.

Options for a swim in the sea at Ope Cove if the weather is nice.

The plan will also be to stop at the Chesil Chippie after the days climbing for fish and chips on the beach (or a pint at The Cove).

I’m bringing my non climbing partner with me – there’s loads of active stuff to do on the island, or there’s plenty of beach life and lovely cafes.

I think we may be able to get extra rooms on top of the ones I’ve booked, but obviously if you can get in early you’ll be guaranteed somewhere to kip.

There are flights from Bournemouth with Ryanair for around £200, this includes 20kg bag allowance. We will stay in Calpe, which has great access to 3 fantastic climbing areas, Sella, Aleta and Sierra de Toix. In order to book accommodation I will need to know who is keen to go, and may need a deposit.
