Late autumn in Spain – the rock’s warm, the beer’s cold and the pool has had eight months to warm up. If you fancy a long weekend sport climbing in a T shirt in November, this is the trip for you! The Costa Blanca has dozens of crags with hundreds of routes. For more inspiration see https://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/destinations/costa_blanca-2529.
We’re going to drive to Gatwick to catch an early morning flight to Alicante, taking hand luggage for personal stuff and sharing the cost of hold luggage for climbing gear. We’ll collect a hire car (or more, depending on numbers) to drive up to our cottage/villa accommodation in the hills. We’ll stop en route to stock up at a supermarket and, if all goes to plan, we’ll arrive early enough for an afternoon’s climbing.
The following days will see us exploring mountain and coastal crags, perhaps including some long (40m+) and multi-pitch routes. One or two evenings we’ll eat out, the others we’ll combine skills and self-cater. On the last day we’ll get an evening flight back, meaning we’ll arrive home in the early hours.
Total cost for the trip (including BMC insurance – highly recommended) should be about £350.
Let me have questions and expressions of interest below. If you’re coming I’ll need £175 by 5 July so I can book the flights, transport and accommodation. I also need volunteers to take their car to Gatwick and/or to drive the hire car/s.
