Chamonix is climbing and mountaineering heaven. Sitting in the permanent shadow of Mont Blanc and surrounded by some of the most famous Alpine peaks and climbing routes, it’s one big adventure sports playground.

Fancy having a crack at some amazing 4000m peaks? Want to push your grade with the staggering array of sport climbing routes? Trail running? Mountain biking? Paragliding? Year round ice climbing on the glaciers?

Loads of amazing restaurants, coffee shops, bars and of course shiny kit shops in the town to keep us amused when we are not in the mountains.

Here’s a nice clip which gives a good feel for what the place is like in Summer:

If you haven’t been then you shame on you – and do something about it by joining us on the ROCS trip to Chamonix this year.

The rough plan will be to fly from Gatwick to Geneva on Sat 23rd June 2018. Minibus transfer from there direct to our self catering accommodation in Chamonix town centre. Loads of amazing things for us to try all week and the fly home the following Saturday.

Let me know for now if you’re a definite or just interested and then I can start to look at accommodation options.

I’ve been having a rough look at costs for the trip for this week:

Return flights from Gatwick to Geneva – £160
Return minibus transfer from Geneva to Chamonix – £50
Self catering accommodation £140 (based on 4 sharing, apartment in town centre)

You will have a share of Gatwick car parking, lift pass, food, ice cream and beer money to add.
If we have a crack at some of the bigger peaks (Mont Blanc?) then you will have to pay to stay in a hut overnight.

Once I know who is definitely in it will pay us to start booking accommodation by the end of March before everyone else books it.
